The War Room
Please set aside 1.2 Chillable Hours for The War Room - you will not regret it.
The War Room is an amazing behind-the-scenes documentary about the 1992 Clinton for President campaign, focusing on the adventures of spin doctors James Carville and George Stephanopoulos (then Governor Clinton is almost never seen, and when he is, he is often wearing ridiculously short running shorts). The film is named after the campaign’s “war room”–command center–from which the effort was directed. The documentary was led by husband and wife directors D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, and was nominated for an Academy Award.
The documentary recently made headlines again in late April, when focused on a clip from the film which appears to show former Clinton administration official Mickey Kantor saying “Look at Indiana, wait, wait – look at Indiana. 42-40. It doesn’t matter if we win. Those people are shit. Excuse me.” D.A. Pennebaker recently stated that Kantor had actually said “Those people must be shitting in the White House.”
For anyone remotely interested in the inner workings of a political campaign, this is a must see documentary - it is truly amazing to think that the room full of people on your screen (who admittedly look like they may not have been invited to sit at the cool kids’ table in high school) were the machine behind Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign victory.
I have posted a link to the first clip (one of ten) below. To see the other clips, simply click on the video and then you will see the remaining nine clips in the “related videos” section of edbdpt1’s YouTube page.
