Internet in the Classroom?
One of the recent hot issues constantly being discussed at colleges, universities and law schools is whether or not students should have Internet access during class.
The crew at Chillable Hours thinks that students should be able to access the Internet in class if they so choose, unless they are distracting other students and/or the teacher. In fact, many of us agree that Internet access was one of the main things that we relied on to stay awake during particularly boring classes.
Unfortunately, it seems that many others do not agree with our point a view. A number of schools are disabling WiFi in classrooms and using other actions to deter Internet use during class (for example, the article below notes that UCLA Law School professors have a “kill switch” that they can trip at any time during a class if they desire).
One of our favorite law professors, Professor Bainbridge, has recently discussed this topic on his website. A link to a recent post on ProfessorBainbridge.com is linked below.

We think that more and more colleges, universities and law schools are going to limit or eliminate Internet access in response to professor complaints and wishes. We don’t think this is the best idea - but would like to hear what our readers think.
