Palin and Biden on Roe v. Wade

Can you imagine this person being in charge of appointing our next Supreme Court justice(s)?

I hope that Gov. Palin’s “debate bootcamp” is going well…

Our Favorite VP Candidate Strikes Again

Just when you think all of the highlights of Katie Couric’s interview with Gov. Palin have been released, a few more gems make their way to the Internet.

The follow clip includes a wonderful exchange in which Katie Couric asks the following - “And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?”

The witty Gov. Palin stops, pauses, and then dramatically responds with the following - “Uhm… all of them…” and then continues mumble on incoherently about Alaska and how it is a “microcosm of America”.

Wow. I don’t really know what else to say.

Bitter Lawyer - Rope

BitterLawyer, one of our favorite new websites has posted another webisode, entitled “Rope” - which centers around one attorney’s inquisitiveness about another attorney’s “rope”.

We think that this webisode is much, much better than the previous BitterLawyer webisode - “The Gayholm Syndrome” - but we are still yearning for the good ole days and webisodes like “Typo” that we simply can’t watch without forwarding to all of our friends.

Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Livin’ the Dream

The guys over at Bitter Lawyer put out a new webisode today, and while we generally find their stuff to be absolutely hilarious and spot on, we kinda think that this one was a tier or two below their normal work product. To put it in lawyer terms - this would definitely affect their bonus. We will be interested to see the blog entry related to the webisode explaining the real life events that inspired it, and are hopeful that it is funnier than the webisode. We are definitely huge fans of the site (and their webisodes), but feel like this one missed the mark. We must admit, we still can’t wait for the next one…

The Olympics and The Race

If you are like the crew here at Chillable Hours, you have likely become completely obsessed with the Olympics for the last few days. While we fully expected to be interested in seeing if Dara Torres could still win at 40 and watching the USA gymnastics teams compete for gold, we never expected to be entranced by semifinal action in men’s single badminton. There is just something about the Olympics that brings everyone around their television.

One moment that will surely live on for many Olympic cycles to come is last night’s men’s 4×100 freestyle relay. The French were favored and Michael Phelps needed a victory to keep alive any hope of winning 8 gold medals. To make it even more interesting, the French swimmer who would swim the fourth and final leg of the relay had done some pretty serious trash talking before the race - saying that the French would “crush” the USA relay team. Well….the same French swimmer had a full body-length lead when he jumped in the pool to swim the final leg of the relay last night and complete France’s “crushing” of the US team. Let’s just say it didn’t quite turn out the way he wanted.

As we use to say back home - “Don’t let your mouth write checks that your ass can’t cash.”

Well done guys, well done.

Bitter Lawyer - “Typo”

This is absolutely one of the funniest videos we have seen in a long time.

To say that the creator of this video is not a genius would be a 10b-5 violation were the statement in a public offering document.

Wow - lawyer humor at its finest. No wonder we drink… alone.

We Miss Basketball Season

The crew at ChillableHours was VERY excited to see a little NFL football this weekend. However, we dearly miss our beloved basketball season and all the Dick Vitale greatness that comes along with it.

Thankfully, one of our readers sent us a link to a blog post entitled “20 Ways to Die Trying to Dunk a Basketball” to share with everyone. Thank you “scaliaisbalding” for the submission.

After looking at the photo below one may ask “Why is that young man chugging a beer while holding a whiffleball bat with a basketball at his feet?” Check out the number 7 way to die trying to dunk a basketball to find out.

The Greatest Television Show on Television

I know that many people will quickly think of a few certain television shows after reading the title of this post - maybe Seinfeld, the Sopranos, MASH or some other classic television show. However, we are here to confirm that the best show on television right now is none other than NINJA WARRIOR. From what we can tell, Ninja Warrior is a yearly competition in Japan in which hundreds of would be warriors compete to make their way through four stages of grueling ninja-like obstacle courses in a certain amount of time. Many of the competitors simply crash and burn a few seconds into the first stage, however, a small percentage make it through to the second, third and fourth stages.

This year, Makoto Nagano made it through all four stages and I guess that means that he is now officially a Ninja Warrior. We have included video proof that Ninja Warrior is the greatest show ever in the history of television in the form of three videos below. The first shows Makoto Nagano completing all four stages of the Ninja Warrior course earlier this year, the second shows a few older competitors that are not quite ready for Ninja Warrior-dom and the third shows one man’s take on the ten toughest obstacles in the history of the competition.

Ninja Warrior is on G4 (that is a television station) and is televised in Japanese (but has subtitles). We are currently contemplating setting up a Ninja Warrior training course in the Chillable Hours home office for anyone that is interested.

John McCain don’t know nothing ’bout no Internets

So what if John McCain openly admits that he doesn’t use a computer - I am sure that he can still make great decisions about new media in the Internet Age. Or maybe this whole computer and internet phenomena will die out any day now…. Or not.

Thanks to one of our loyal readers for the clip.

Duke Sucks

It is a fact that Duke sucks. This has been undisputed for some time. However, a Kentucky judge has also weighed in with a gigantic “Duke Sucks” of his own. Click on the Duke Football picture below for more information.

And to go along with this brilliant story about Duke sucking, please find one of our favorite YouTube videos of all time. There is a tiny bit of harsh language in the clip, so you may want to turn your speakers down (or up, depending on where you work).

How do you compete with this?

Tiger never disappoints - even with a bum leg he forces a playoff in the U.S. Open.

I can’t help but to smile every time I watch this clip. Amazing - simply amazing.

Is it possible to have a case of the Mondays on Thursday?

The Chillable Hours crew is having an absolutely brutal Thursday, but someone just sent us the following “Best of” clips from one of the greatest movies ever and brightened our day.

Not only should Office Space be mandatory viewing for everyone in the working world, it’s kinda like Lays - no one can watch it just once.

Uhhhmmmm…….yeeeaahhh…… we’re going to need you to go ahead and watch these clips over the weekend.

Part I

Part II

Beer Pong

I don’t know how many of you have ever played beer pong, but it is a (beer) drinking game in which two teams compete against each other in a contest to see who can better throw a ping-pong ball across a table into a set of cups filled with your favorite brew.

Many of us have always thought of beer pong as a game played while still in school or post-graduation in limited circumstances. However, from the looks of the clip below, it looks like a few older guys still play too (BTW - the old guy in the clip below is performing what is affectionately known in the beer pong world as a “slam dunk”).

I Drink Your Milkshake!

If you have a milkshake and I have a milkshake…and I have a straw…and my straw reaches across the room and starts to drink your milkshake….I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE - I DRINK IT UP!

Below is a five minute clip from the final scene of There Will Be Blood in which Daniel Day Lewis’ character goes ballistic and claims that “I am the third revelation… I am who the Lord has chosen.”

There Will Be Blood is a great movie and Daniel Day Lewis is a cinematic genius.

If you want vacation time, go teach third grade public school

I am a millionaire… I drive a Ferrari…. I have a ridiculous house in the South Fork

This is a classic clip from Boiler Room in which Ben Affleck talks about his love of money and distaste for all the “pikers” out there. Quotes from this movie are an instant conversation starter among a crowd full of professionals and Boiler Room is a must see for anyone networking with the thirtysomethings in the business world.

Be careful playing this one at work, since there are a ridiculous amount of four-letter words in the clip.

A good walk spoiled

When not logging Chillable Hours in the office, a good way to log a few Chillable Hours outside of the office is on the golf course. There is nothing better than getting up on a Saturday or Sunday morning (or leaving the office early on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) and getting in a round of golf with a group of good friends.

A few things can make a round even better, like crushing a 300-yard drive, sinking a long putt or winning a few bucks off your buddies.

Unfortunately, a few things can also make a round frustrating, such as slow AARP members in the group in front of you, losing over a two dozen golf balls in one round or a slow beer cart.

I am always trying to get friends to join me on the course, even if they have never played before. I tell people that even if you have never swung a golf club, anyone can drive a golf cart with reckless abandon, make fun of other people’s bad shots and complain about their bosses and co-workers (all things that make a round of golf wonderful).

Below are a few clips that can help even the newest golfer - the first clip introduces a few basic mechanics (sorry for the quality of the vid) and the second is a tad bit more advanced…

And if you can’t get out of the office - you can always challenge your friends to a round of mini-putt (or kill a few Chillable Hours playing solo).
